Aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Jaman South Constituency in the Bono Region, Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Retd) has explained that though there are knowledgeable persons in Parliament, more experienced persons are needed to augment the House.

Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd), who is also a former Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), said Parliament is a prestigious institution and as such its work is very unique to Ghana.

Col. Damoah (Rtd) made the observations in an interview with Onua TV on his bid to wrestle the candidacy from anyone who would pop up to contest the Jaman South NPP primaries and also become the Member of Parliament in the constituency in the 2024 elections.

“The powers of Parliament is very huge. They approve loans and determine usage of the loans,” he said in Twi, adding “in collection of tolls and on the Finance Committee in Parliament, you need people with finance and toll collection background and that is where my experience and knowledge will be needed”.

I’ll contest NPP presidential primary – Bawumia finally declares

The former GRA boss explained that “such special knowledge needs to be added to that Finance Committee even though there are equally good and knowledgeable people on the Committee”.

“I have served my nation in the army, I have served my nation as Commissioner of Customs and now I have to serve my people in Jaman South Constituency so that I can help develop that area too just as I did for Ghana though the army and Customs,” he added.

The Jaman South Constituency seat is currently occupied by William Okofo-Dateh of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

who would your most humble servant be?

At a time when power is flaunted more than it is earned, we rise with a different call: #TumiNniSuban—Power without character is nothing. We are done with leaders who wear authority like a costume but lack the soul to serve. Leadership must reflect the people’s dignity, not diminish it. So we ask If elections were held today, who would your most humble servant be?
