A research conducted by the Central Regional-based research outfit, Independent Media Caucus for Development (IMCD), has projected Chris Arthur, the NPP parliamentary candidate, to win the Agona West Parliamentary seat with a significant margin.
According to the research findings, Arthur is expected to secure over 50% votes in the parliamentary elections, followed by the NDC parliamentary candidate, Ernestina Ofori Dangbey. The incumbent Member of Parliament who is now going independent, Cynthia Mamle Morrison trailed behind with a paltry number of electorate willing to vote for her.
The research also envisaged a 73.7 percent voter turnout, and also projected Arthur to win 19 out of the 31 electoral areas across the constituency. The findings also indicate a decisive victory for Arthur among key demographic groups, including market women, drivers, teachers, artisans, farmers, and students.
A statement signed by the Dean of Independent Media Caucus for Development, James Esuon, said the survey had a sample size of 10,637 out of the 89,067 total voters in Agona West from all the 31 electoral areas.
Out of the total number of voters surveyed in the constituency, five thousand seven hundred and seventy-seven (5,777) representing 54.31 percent said they will vote for Chris Arthur of NPP. Two thousand nine hundred and fifty-six (2,956) representing 27.78 percent said they will vote for the NDC’s candidate, Ernestina Ofori Dangbey whilst four hundred and fifty (450) representing 4.23 percent said they will vote for Cynthia Morrison. Meanwhile, out of the 10637 voters randomly selected, 2,273 representing 21.36 percent were undecided.
