Don Moen, who happens to be a favorite international artiste for Ghanaian foreign gospel lovers, will take part in an International Gospel Concert that will be funded by an unidentified interest group. Ghanaian gospel musicians will also participate in the International Gospel Concert. In an interview with Onua FM Midday News, Mr. Jefferson Sackey, head of media subcommittee of the ‘Ghana 60 years on’ anniversary celebrations confirmed that the committee was approached by a group who have expressed interest in bringing the “God Is Good All the Time”, hit maker to headline the International Gospel Concert on March 7. It is, however, unclear whether the committee will contribute money to the organization of the Concert. Moreover, “the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has committed to take responsibility of organizing an event that will celebrate Ghanaian Music, 60 years on from March 10 to 12,” he said. He noted that musicians played important role in the country and that musicians will have the opportunity to participate in the independence celebrations. Meanwhile, Mr. Sackey has disclosed that upon a request from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo there will be adequate regional representation at the Independence Square on March 6. “There will be a trooping of the color segment where all the 10 regions will have the opportunity to display their cultural and its significance to the country,” he noted. He said a corporate institution had contributed an amount of GHC300,000 to assist in the committee and that other corporate institutions should help the committee to raise the GHC 20m budgeted for the celebration. “We will be transparent and accountable to the country for people to realize that it was worth using GHC 20m to celebrate Ghana 60 year on anniversary”, Jefferson Sackey said.
