Paul Uuter Dery[/caption] The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has suspended, with immediate effect, four Justices of the High Court. The decision which was taken on Tuesday, 8th May, 2018, was on the advice of the Judicial Council, in accordance with Article 146 (10) (b) of the Constitution. A statement signed by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the presidency, mentioned the names as: Justice Uuter Paul Dery, Justice Mustapha Logoh, Justice Gilbert Ayisi Addo and Justice Charles Quist. “The suspension follows the establishment of a prima facie case against the four Justices, by the Committee set up by the Chief Justice to investigate alleged acts of bribery and corruption against certain persons, including the four Justices, as contained in the 29th August, 2015 petition of Mr. Anas Aremeyaw Anas,” the statement said. President Akufo-Addo is said to have by letter, dated Tuesday, 8th May, 2018, notified each of the four Justices of the decision. Three of the suspended judges a fortnight ago filed a suit at the Supreme Court asking it to nullify the supposed prima facie case that was established against them. They sought among others, “An order declaring as nullity and of no effect the prima facie case that the 1st defendant would have made against the plaintiffs in exercise of her function pursuant to Article 146 (3) and (4) of the constitution as same is in a contravention of Article 296 (C) of the constitution”.
