Abdulai Alhassan aka Abu Imoro[/caption] The Northern Regional Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Abdulai Alhassan, well known as Abu Imoro, has resigned. Abu was the gentleman who appeared in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ investigative documentary as aide to embattled former GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi, allegedly scheming to cheat the football association. Abu’s resignation is coming barely a day after his boss resigned as the GFA President. Mr. Nyantakyi himself resigned hours after he was banned by FIFA and a day after government expressed intention to dissolve the association he heads. READ: Kwesi Nyantakyi resigns as GFA boss The investigative documentary titled “Number 12: ‘When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm” exposes corruption in football administration in Ghana and other parts of Africa. Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team had met Mr. Nyantakyi and Abu in a plush hotel in Morocco as investors interested in sponsoring Ghana’s premier league. “I wish to state my interest was to develop Ghana Football which led me to take the supposed investors to the President of the Ghana Football Association,” Abu said in his resignation letter. He also apologised to Mr. Nyantakyi for leading him into the mess and “I hope that Ghana Football will get back on its feet from this controversy”. Abu Imoro who is a former footballer is the Chief Executive Officer for Tamale Utrecht Football Academy, and was elected regional GFA chairman in October 2015. I have decided to resign as the Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association and an Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association. My decision is as a result of deliberations I have had with family and my associates. I wish to state my interest was to develop Ghana Football which led me to take the supposed investors to the President of the Ghana Football Association. I hereby render unqualified apology to my family, friends and the people I was elected to serve and the Country at large I also sincerely apologize to Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi and all his sympathizes for being the person who led the supposed investors to him.
