Residents of Prampram and its environs have threatened to invade the offices of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) unless the “reckless” and “rampant” power outages are stopped. Residents claim the towns have intermittently been cut off from power supply for the past month. The situation has provoked some youth who have threatened to invade the ECG offices for some explanations. Just last weekend for example, the whole Prampram township, residents say, was plunged into total darkness without any reason been given by the service providers. The power was restored, albeit for an hour. Then following the heavy downpour on Monday night, power supply was interrupted within hourly intervals much to the chagrin of residents. The frequent unannounced power outages have affected many businesses in the areas including the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly. “If dumsor is back and that’s why the rampant power cuts, you should tell us,” a resident, Edwin Nartey, who runs a fruit grocery demanded. Fuming with rage and unable to control his anger, he questioned the wisdom in the “deliberate” power cut without any warning. His frustration was shared by several other residents who were equally disturbed by the development. By Suzzy Smith | Prampram]]>
