A/R: Police poised to fight landguards, rival gang attacks

The Ashanti Regional Police Command wants to resuscitate the Neighborhood Watch Committee to fight the menace of landguards and gangsterism.  Regional Commander, DCOP Kwesi Mensah Duku, says mobile patrols will also be intensified to improve security in the region. “Both static and mobile patrols will be increased and intensified Neighborhood Watch Committee will be revamped. Landguard activities and rival gang attacks would be fought fiercely. We will collaborate with Nananom closely to deal with them”. Briefing the media on his first day of assumption of office, DCOP Mensah Duku expressed readiness of the police to make the region a safe place to live. “It is my vision to make Asante peaceful, secure, and conducive for socio-economic development without fear of crime and intimidation of any person(s)”. The police commander entreated the media to offer constructive criticism to support the police. “Our mandate as police service cannot be accomplished without the support of a vibrant media. We need the media to criticize us but constructively”. DCOP Mensah Duku appealed to the general public to provide credible information on suspected criminals to enable the command act decisively. He assured informants their identity will be protected. Meanwhile, the regional police command has arrested three suspects terrorizing residents. Two locally manufactured guns and mobile phones were retrieved from the suspects. By Ibrahim Abubakar | 3news.com ]]>
