The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) fears over a thousand people in the beverages industry in Ghana could lose their job if the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) fails to remove compliance officers from the factories of its members in relation to the tax stamp policy. According to the AGI, it has noted with concern, restrictions on the operations of beverage manufacturers by the GRA without recourse to the tax stamp implementation arrangements. President of the AGI, Dr. Adu Gyamfi speaking at a press conference says if the situation is not resolved, some staff will go home. “We all know the unemployment rate in the country now. If the GRA does not take its men off these companies and they shut down, over 1,500 people will go home”, he cautioned The AGI President also appealed to government not to shut its doors for further dialogue but rather provide dispensation for companies to continue to do business.
