Final year OKESS student stabbed to death

May 10, 2018
Reading Time: 2 mins read

A final year student of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School at Tafo in the Ashanti Region was Wednesday evening stabbed to death on the school compound by unknown assailants. The boy, identified as Godfred Arthur, 18, was scheduled to write his final West African Examination papers (WASSSCE) paper today, Thursday. School authorities prevented the media and parents from entering the school premises Thursday morning. However, scores of security personnel as well as the Regional and Metro Heads of Education have been in a meeting with the school authorities over the incident. 3news.com‘s Ashanti Regional correspondent Beatrice Spio-Garbrah gathered that the boy’s attackers were a group of armed robbers who went to the school late in the evening. The students were said to have raised alarm when they saw the robbers, but in their attempt to escape, the student was stabbed by one of the robbers. The school is not completely walled because private developers are competing with the school for space, Beatrice found out. Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng who confirmed the “tragic incident” to TV3 Midday Live said one suspect has been arrested. The suspect, she said, is in custody assisting in investigations. Meanwhile, police personnel have been deployed to the school to provide protection to the students and staff on campus, ASP Juliana Obeng said. A worried parent who rushed to the school after hearing the incident was bitter about the poor security at the school. She claimed people have unfettered access to the school, recalling instances where her child had walked out of campus and similarly has she entered the school at old hours without anyone questioning her or trying to stop her. 3news.com | Ghana]]>
