The Tamale Metropolis is undergoing some rigorous beautification process ahead of the 62nd Independence Parade to be hosted in the Northern regional capital next week. This is the first time the national event, which falls on March 6, is being held outside the national capital Accra. Distractive and unauthorized billboards within the metropolis are being pulled down. Similar clearing exercise is ongoing in the adjoining Sagnerigu Municipal Assembly, especially those erected at roundabouts. TV3 gathers all shops erected on the edges of the streets within the two assemblies will be cleared before March 5,2019. The faded walls at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium are being given a new coat of paint. Gullies developed on parts of the stadium and other structures near the streets of Tamale are being patched. The main Bolga-Tamale highway is also being painted. Meanwhile, hotels within the two assemblies have been fully booked ahead of the arrival of dignitaries and other celebrants. A number of people in diaspora are expected to gather in Tamale for the historic parade. A total of 30 contingents made up of the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Prisons Service, and the Custom Excise and Preventive Service will be participating in the parade. Others include schools drown from both the first and second cycle institutions from Tamale Metropolitan and Sagnerigu Municipal assemblies .
