All the eight persons who died in the boat disaster in Oti Region have been buried, a day after the fatal incident.
They were buried on Monday, March 27, 2023, the Assembly member of Sabaja, Mr Mumuni Suraj, confirmed the burial to the Ghana News Agency.
He said the deceased were buried after a report was made to the Police.
Six adult females and two young girls met their untimely death after the canoe they were traveling on capsized on Debon-River, a tributary of the Oti River in the Krachi Nchumuru District.
The Debon-River is between Kpajoti and Sabaja, a river that shared its boundaries with farming community under the Krachi Nchumuru and Krachi West Municipal Assembly in the Oti region.
Mr Mumuni Suraj told the GNA that the canoe was carrying the deceased from Kpajoti to a funeral at Sabaja, when the incident occurred on Sunday.
This incident comes 10 days after nine people died at Azizakpe in the Ada East District in the Greater Greater Accra Region.
The victims were said to have boarded the boat at Azizanya and on their way to Azizakpe when the unfortunate incident occurred.
