Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited on Thursday announced that its Board Chairman, Ishmael Evans Yamson, will be retiring at the end of this month (June 30).
He was appointed to the position in 2005 and has made immense contribution to the Bank over the past 13 years – has been instrumental in strengthening its corporate governance.
He led it through a period of growth, challenge and change, as the banking sector went through reforms and his passion for excellence contributed significantly to bank’s strong brand and pedigree.
Mrs. Mansa Nettey, the Chief Executive, thanked him for his unparalleled leadership and service.
“I would like to thank Mr Yamson for his unparalleled leadership and service to the bank.
His deep knowledge of the industry, great client relationships and rich insights had had a transformative impact on the bank”, she said.
“We wish him all the best in his future endeavours, and l have, no doubt that he will continue to work to drive the growth of the Ghanaian economy,” Mrs. Nettey added.
Mr. Yamson said it had been a great pleasure for him to lead Standard Chartered Bank together with colleague directors and the executive committee members, to bring it to its current state where “l feel, proud to leave”.
“We have together created a bank with robust corporate governance architecture, impeccable in its integrity, outstanding in its performance, delivering positive memorable experience to our clients and a bank which has an internal human environment in which our employees are proud to work.”
Mr. Yamson’s replacement is expected to be announced in due course.
