Akufo-Addo is backing me for General Secretary  – John Boadu boasts

July 6, 2018
Reading Time: 2 mins read

Acting General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party, John Boadu does not see himself not being confirmed as the substantive General Secretary of the party at Saturday’s national delegates’ congress. For him, the massive support he is enjoying from the leadership of the party and President Nana Akufo-Addo in particular endorsing him is a clear sign of his impending victory. “Yes I am going to win and win massively,” he told 3FM’s Kwakye Afreh Nuamah on Friday at the Koforidua Technical University where the NPP is holding its delegates’ conference. John Boadu, a former National Youth Organiser of the NPP, was elected the National Organiser in Tamale in 2014. A little after a year, he was asked by the leadership of the party to act as the General Secretary when Kwabena Agyapong was suspended by the party for ostensibly working against NPP’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2016 general elections. John Boadu explained why he is emphatic he will emerge victorious in Saturday’s election. “I have everybody support including the president, not even including, particularly the president,” he touted. He is racing with Richard Ahiagbah who some feel is little known in the party, but he says he is not an outsider. Read: I am not a ‘stranger’ in the NPP- General Secretary hopeful When told it would be bad on the part of the president to pick and choose in an internal party election, John Boadu replied, “I don’t know whether he knows the other candidate”. However said, despite being the choice of the delegates he “won’t be complacent” until the battle is won. By Isaac Essel | 3news.com | Ghana]]>
