Bawumia will lead us three times back than Akufo-Addo has done – Benjamin Quashie

Mr. Benjamin Kofi Quashie, Chairman of NDC Council of Elders in South Africa, has predicted that Ghana’s economic downturn would further deteriorate beyond measure, if Ghanaians hand over the leadership of Ghana into the hands of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In his verdict, after assessing the performance of the Vice President as the head of the Economic Management Team over the past seven years which he calls a failure, “Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia is not fit to hold the office of the president”.

In an interview with a South African-based Ghasa Radio on a myriad of issues, Mr. Quashie accused Dr. Bawumia of refusing to take responsibility for the economy he led in managing, insisting, “I don’t see why he should be given a country to manage”.

The NDC guru who owns a conglomerate of companies in South Africa and a philanthropic foundation in Ghana stated:

“I can tell you for a fact that Bawumia will lead us three times back than what Akufo-Addo has done. If a man whom we know as economic wizard, somebody who says that he has worked with the Bank of Ghana, African Development Bank, he has worked with all the other institutions, and today we find ourselves in this mess; but he wants to run away from it now, he doesn’t talk economy but digitalization and you want to give this person the country to run? Unfortunately we will be going back three times if we dare make a mistake.”

The NDC Council of Elders Chairman appears shell-shocked about the sudden change of the Vice President’s economic messiah mantra to a champion of digitalization.

“He is a man you can’t take him serious,” he explained, “Never in the history of our country have we had a failed economic management team like we have under the leadership of Alhaji Bawumia. Alhaji Bawumia has turned all of a sudden into a digitalization man from being economic wizard. When he became the runningmate to Nana Addo then, we were all made to know that he is the economic messiah. His wife also said that her husband is economic messiah. Today the vice president says he is into digitalization”.

In Benjamin Quashie’s view, “people who cannot take responsibility for their actions, should not be entrusted with leadership position” as he points to promise by Dr. Bawumia to scrap some taxes including E-levy when voted for as Ghana’s president.

Mincing no words, he took the Akufo-Addo-led government to the cleaners, describing the president as the “worst president we have even seen under the Fourth Republic”, claiming that the president has retarded the progress of the country.

He was however confident that if the December general elections passes the test of credible, free and fair election that protects the votes of the electorate, the “NDC would definitely be declared winner and a decisive victory for John Mahama.”

He therefore warned, “the NPP should not dare let one blood of a single Ghanaian touch the ground as a result of the elections”.

“It’s non-negotiable, NDC and president John Mahama will form the next government and help build Ghana the way we want built. The NDC and President Mahama would ensure that Ghana is for us all and not for a select few. The NDC and President Mahama will ensure that Ghana gets back to the economic recovery not for a select few but for all of us. And the NDC under John Mahama will ensure that the judiciary work for every Ghanaian citizen and not for a select few.

“President John Mahama will ensure that the economy grows back to the bubbling nature that it was getting to post COVID, and ensure that Ghana regains its position in the comity of nations as it used to be. Currently, we are nowhere but there is hope, the hope is President John Dramani Mahama,” Benjamin Kofi Quashie declared.

who would your most humble servant be?

At a time when power is flaunted more than it is earned, we rise with a different call: #TumiNniSuban—Power without character is nothing. We are done with leaders who wear authority like a costume but lack the soul to serve. Leadership must reflect the people’s dignity, not diminish it. So we ask If elections were held today, who would your most humble servant be?
