BeInspiredToday: Valuable Lives

July 3, 2024
Reading Time: 3 mins read
#BeInspiredToday: Mere Christianity

Today happens to be the 183rd day of the year, and we have 183 more days remaining until the closure of the year.

In case the year has halved so fast for you, then that is the crux of today’s message. Our lives are moving so fast that in every opportune moment, we need to pause and reflect on our direction and impact.

Let’s pick some important lessons from one of the most famous Princesses of all time – Princess Diana.

She was born in England on 1st July 1961, and died in a car crash in France on 31st August 1997 at the tender age of 36. Her life teaches us that life is no respecter of persons, and that pomp, pageantry, and wealth do not necessarily have any conclusive say in the length of one’s life.

No matter our age, status, or fame, we must, like everyone else, live each day of our lives as if it were the last because it could indeed be the last.

The relative popularity of Princess Diana is largely attributable to her many philanthropic gestures and generous support to charity. At one point, she auctioned most of her royal dresses to raise funds to support charity. That was the extent of her selflessness.

Stephen Lee, director of the UK Institute of Charity Fundraising Managers, said of her, “Her overall effect on charity is probably more significant than any other person’s in the 20th century.”

There goes the second lesson: Selfish lives are easily forgotten, and the most valuable lives are the ones lived for the cause of God and humanity.

As your life moves so fast and may end unannounced or unexpectedly, how will you be remembered after all is said and done?

“For we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow.” (Job 8:9)

“Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:4)

How you are remembered is an indication of how valuable your life was.

Remain inspired!
