Exhibitors clamour for another Western Trade Fair

September 6, 2018
Reading Time: 3 mins read

Exhibitors who participated in the just ended Western Trade Fair in Takoradi have urged event organisers, Connect FM, to make it a yearly event as they express their readiness for another exciting fair. Recalling their participation in the fair with fond memory, they are anticipating a greater turn out next time since patrons had quality and relatively affordable goods to buy. Like Rejoice Okyere, a fashion designer who journeyed over 200KM from Spintex in the Greater Accra region was optimistic about similar fairs in the future. “I came from Spintex to participate, it is my first time taking part in a fair outside Accra and I have not regretted. I hope next time more people will register because I didn’t go back empty handed. Sales were good but I expect more next time”. Similarly, an indigenous vendor in Takoradi, Sally’s Akwaaba Afrocentric shop welcomed Connect FM’s trade fair concept and asked that it is sustained. “Kudos to Connect FM, TV3 and MTN for making this fair a reality. It’s been long time we experienced trade fair in Takoradi so don’t stop to make it a yearly event because it will boost the economy. Some other fairs didn’t have such number of people trooping in”. The western trade fair was organized by Media General’s subsidiary, Connect 97.1 FM in Takoradi and was sponsored by MTN MOMO. The four day event started on 30th August and ended on 2nd September at the Takoradi Jubilee Park. The fair was aimed at outdooring mainly made in Ghana goods and also promote small scale entrepreneurs. Vendors from Greater Accra, Eastern and Northern regions joined those in the Western region to outdoor their goods and services. Varieties of wares were on display; cosmetic and beauty accessories, African print clothes, herbal medicines, organic fruits, toiletries, safety gadgets and many more. The patrons were equally excited about varieties of wares on display at discounted prices. While some were informed through media publicity, others were drawn to the event by Asante Crew’s live band music which was sponsored by Kasapreko Soluku bitters.
