Govt receives Mahama’s letter on leaving Cantonments bungalow

Seat of government, the Flagstaff House[/caption] Information gathered by 3news.com has confirmed that the office of the president, Nana Akufo-Addo, has received a letter indicating that former president Mahama is no longer interested in staying in his cantonments bungalow. The former president had requested that he was allowed to keep the house at the No. 3. Prestige Link, Cantonments as part of his retirement package. He has lived in the house since 2009: as a vice president and president. The request generated a great hue and cry across the country with some groups revealing their determination to eject him with force if he continues to stay in the house. But Mr. Mahama in a letter to President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday withdrew the letter expressing his interest in that bungalow and another building on No. 6, 3^rd Avenue. “It would appear that these requests threaten to mar the spirit of cooperation with which we as co-chairs of the Joint Transition Team have managed the smooth transfer of power from my administration to yours. “…My request is therefore humbly withdrawn.” Meanwhile, 3news.com’s sources at the Flagstaff House, the seat of government, confirmed that the former president’s letter was received on Tuesday evening. The President, Nana Akufo-Addo is yet to take a decision on the latest letter, the source said.
