GPL Match Day 3 Preview

March 28, 2018
Reading Time: 3 mins read

In the Ghana Premier League this midweek, Cape Coast will be the center of attraction with three games at the stadium on Wednesday and Thursday. There will be a double header at the stadium with Dreams FC facing Wa All Stars at 3pm on Wednesday and later that same day, Inter Allies will play Liberty Professionals. It will be the first time that such thing will be witnessed in the history of the GPL. A double header that stems from decisions by the Ghana Football Association and TV right holders Star Times, to modulate the schedules in a manner that makes it easy for coverage of the league. The Cape Coast stadium will also on Thursday host Ebusua Dwarfs as the home side against Hearts of Oak, who are yet to win a game in the Ghana Premier League this season, after two games. Coach Henry Wellington’s side are very much in need of points following their draw with Eleven Wonders and subsequent loss to Ashanti Gold at their interim home grounds, Cape Coast. The unexpected rise to form by AshGold has made them the only side with a perfect run in the league so far. Charles Akunnor’s side have picked up maximum points in their first two games and would hope for more as they face newly promoted Karela United in Obuasi. The form of Shafiu Mumuni could once again be telling for the Miners if he keeps up with his scoring feats in the league so far. The forward has two goals in two games, both were scored in the first two games. In other games, WAFA will take on one of the sides they have rarely taken maximum points off in the GPL, Aduana Stars. Aduana are juggling the Ghana Premier League and their participation in CAF competitions this season, which might prove messy for their dreams of holding on to the title they won last season. A draw in the first game against Elmina Sharks away from home may not be the most disappointing of results this season, with very tricky games coming up in their schedule. Asante Kotoko travel to Medeama in an attempt to pick a second win this season following their victory over Inter Allies. Overall, this makes for a very interesting round of fixtures in the Ghanaian top flight.  ]]>
