Janet Nabla, the founder of the People’s National Party (PNP) has served notice to sue the Electoral Commission (EC) at the Supreme Court following her disqualification from taking part in the 2024 general elections.

The EC announced her disqualification from contesting in the December 7, 2024, presidential elections in a statement on Friday, September 20.

Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has also been disqualified. Other presidential candidates disqualified by the EC include Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr Samuel Sampong Ankrah and Nii Amu Darko,

The rest are Samuel Apea-Danquah, Desmond Abrefah, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw (Progressive People’s Party).

Speaking on the mid-day news on 3FM Friday, September 20, Janet Nabila described the EC as being dishonest.

“I will place an injunction on election 2024.,” she said after alleging that the Chair of the Commission Jean Mensa  “is jealous of me.”

“She is being dishonest,” Nabla added.

The Electoral Commission has approved 13 candidates to contest the December 7 presidential election.

This is contained in a press release dated September 20, 2024.

“Following the successful conduct of the Filing of Nominations from the 9th of September to the 13th of September, 2024, the Commission instituted a thorough examination of the Nomination Forms submitted by the Candidates to ensure conformity with requirements as set out in law,” the press release announced.

“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the General Public that the following persons have successfully gone through the Nomination process and qualify to contest as Candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election,” it concluded.
