President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his call for the establishment of a new city to address the mounting challenges posed by Accra’s overpopulation and infrastructural strain.
Speaking during his Greater Accra “Thank You Tour,” President Mahama emphasized the urgent need for long-term urban planning to decongest the capital and promote balanced regional development.
“Accra is overstretched,” Mahama stated, highlighting the city’s burdened infrastructure and services due to rapid population growth and urbanization.
He therefore proposed the creation of a new city equipped with modern infrastructure to serve as an administrative and commercial hub, thereby easing the pressure on Accra.
