Justin Kodua Frimpong

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has approved the timelines for holding a parliamentary primary in Manhyia South constituency in the Ashanti region, as Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is set to step down as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the 2024 general elections in December.

This follows the nomination of Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately called NAPO, as the running mate to the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the NPP seeks to break the eight.

A statement issued by the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong on Friday, July 5, 2024, noted that persons interested in replacing NAPO would have to pay GH¢ 3,000 for the nomination forms and a non-refundable filing fee of GH¢35, 000.

The approved timelines are as follows:

Nominations will be opened on Monday, July 8, 2024.

Closing of Nomination: Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Election: Sunday, July 14, 2024

An Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate shall procure nomination forms after the payment of a non-refundable application fee of GH¢ 3,000.00 in bankers draft in favour of the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA, a statement issued by the General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong said.

To successfully file the nomination, an APC shall pay a non-refundable filing fee of thirty-five thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢35, 000.00) in Bankers Draft in favour of the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA.

However, women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) will receive a 50% rebate on the filing fees. This means they will be required to pay a nonrefundable filing fee of seventeen thousand and five hundred Ghana cedis (GHC 17,500.00). To ensure clarity, we define a youth as an individual between the ages of 18 and 40.

No individual shall be denied access to purchase nomination forms.

The Elections Committee (EC) shall comprise the following persons:

. Danquah Smith Butey, Chairman

  • Bernard Antwi Boasiako, vice chairman
  • Patricia Appiagyei, Member
  • Martha Kodua, Member
  • Evans Nimako, Secretary
  • Chairperson of the Constituency Council of Elders;
  • All Constituency Executives (Ex•Officio Members)

The party has also approved detailed rules and regulations to govern the conduct of the parliamentary primary election, which will be made available to stakeholders.

Nomination forms will be available for purchase at the constituency party office. Thanks

Signed

Justin Kodua Frimpong General Secretary

who would your most humble servant be?

At a time when power is flaunted more than it is earned, we rise with a different call: #TumiNniSuban—Power without character is nothing. We are done with leaders who wear authority like a costume but lack the soul to serve. Leadership must reflect the people’s dignity, not diminish it. So we ask If elections were held today, who would your most humble servant be?
