Police opens Tamale Teaching Hospital CEO’s office locked by NPP group

February 23, 2017
Reading Time: 2 mins read

The office of the C.E.O of the Tamale Teaching Hospital Dr Prosper Akanbong has been opened after almost forty-eight-hour closure by some members of the New Patriotic Party vigilante group Kandahar in Tamale. His office was opened exactly at 11:29am Thursday, February 23, 2017 led by two female officers from the Criminal Investigative Division of the Northern Regional Police Command together with the Head of Security at the Tamale Teaching Hospital Alhaji Baba Zakaria. Dr Proper Akanbong who was also present when the door was opened, left shortly after making his first entry to his office in about forty eight hours. Some members of the Kandahar vigilante youth group arrived at the facility around 2pm Tuesday 22 February 2017 claiming they have intelligence that some other youth group was planning to storm the facility to forcefully eject the C.E.O from his office. Ibrahim Abdul Hak, a member of the group, who confirmed the group’s action to 3news.com claimed the office was locked to prevent the C.E.O from harm. At the hospital on Wednesday February, 22 2017 morning, the atmosphere was rather quiet with most of the management being absent from duty for fear of their lives. Head of Human Resource, Mohammed Misbao, Head of Pharmacy Hamidu Abdulai, Director Medical Affairs Dr Abbas have been on the list of some groups for several allegations but none of them was at the premises during the incident.
