Rains: Parts of Accra partly submerged, many trapped in homes

File pic[/caption] Several distress calls reached 3news.com on Monday night about the fact that a number of areas in the national capital, Accra got flooded with properties going under water following hours of torrential rains. Hundreds of people, we understand, got trapped in their homes with several others getting stuck on their way to safety. Badly hit areas included Mataheko, Kaneshie, Dansoman, Adjiringanor, Kwashieman-Santa Maria and Osu precisely the Osu Royal Preparatory School area. Abraham Nii Adjah Otoo told 3news.com all efforts to get support from NADMO have proven futile. He said he and a group of men tried to rescue some trapped people at Osu but the rescuing mission was getting daunting because they lacked the necessary equipment. Terrified, Nii Abraham said, he had to personally risk his life to come to the premises of TV3 to seek support in reaching the security agencies, fearing if help does not come on time many lives could be lost. Pictures of some flooded homes were sent to 3news.com. Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>
