Sandra Owusu Ahinkora[/caption] Assembly members of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly have rejected the president`s nominee, Sandra Owusu Ahinkora, as the municipal chief executive. The nominee obtained only one vote out of the six votes cast. The candidate needed to win not less than two-third of the votes cast to be confirmed, but Owusu Ahinkora could only convinced one person to vote for her. The Ayawaso West nominee was among a number of Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) nominated by President Akufo-Addo on Thursday July 19 for the newly created Municipal and District Assemblies (MDA). However, at the Okaikwei North Municipality, the assembly members confirmed the president’s nominee, Nii Boye Laryea with a hundred percent vote. All the 14 numbers present voted for the candidate. The newly elected municipal chief executive assured the members of his readiness to co-operate with management, staff, and assembly members to fulfill the vision and mission of the Okaikwei Municipal Assembly. He noted that his administration would tackle immediate issues confronting the municipality such as bad roads, schools and poor transportation. The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey urged assembly members not to seek their own selfish interest, but rather work towards the development of the assembly.
