The family of Ghana’s former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, will today observe a solemn requiem mass in her honour at the Accra Ridge Church, as part of final rites to celebrate her legacy and service to the nation.
The service is scheduled for 4:00pm today, Wednesday, November 26, 2025, and is expected to bring together loved ones, close associates, political figures, diplomats, religious leaders and admirers of the former First Lady, who was widely respected for her advocacy in education, women’s empowerment, public health and national development.
In a brief statement released earlier, the family confirmed that the media has officially been invited to cover the ceremony and encouraged press houses to attend and document the historic moment.
Although the service is private and religious in nature, it holds deep public significance, given the indelible role Nana Konadu played in shaping Ghana’s political and social landscape—both as the spouse of former President Jerry John Rawlings and a national leader in her own right, having founded the 31st December Women’s Movement.
The requiem mass marks a key transition into the final funeral rites, which will continue in the days ahead according to the family’s outlined burial and memorial schedule.
Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings will be laid to rest on Friday, November 28, 2025.
