Savannah region: Overlord of Kpembe traditional area wants 100% YES from Gonjas

December 22, 2018
Reading Time: 3 mins read

Dari Bismarck Haruna Banbagne insists on a 100% turn out[/caption] The Overlord of the Kpembe traditional area, Dari Bismarck Haruna Banbagne has called on all residents on Gonjaland to massively vote YES for the Savannah region. He said the YES votes will not only make the dream of getting the region possible but will also bring enormous development to Gonjaland. The Kpembewura made the call when he joined over 100 youth in Salaga in a health walk ahead of the referendum on Saturday. The Electoral Commission of Ghana has slated December 27, 2018 for the referendum in the six proposed new regions across the country. Ahead of this, the commission has come out with the colours on the ballot paper for the referendum which are yellow for YES vote and light brown for NO. Residents in these Areas have since been embarking on various campaigns to garner votes to meet the requirements of the referendum. It was part of the preparations that the Youth of Salaga in the East Gonja Municipality organized a walk in the municipality. Addressing the mammoth gathering,  the Overlord of the Kpembe traditional area stressed on the need for residents in the area to consider the referendum as a new dawn of development. He was confident it will drastically reduce the struggles and accidents his people suffer while commuting on the Tamale-Salaga-Makango road. “We will get our own share of development without it passing through someone. The first thing to be done in the Savannah region will be our road which has been a challenge for decades. “Let me also use this medium to call on the people of Bole to bury their differences and see the Savannah region above everything by coming out to vote YES” Kpembewura Dari Bismarck Haruna Banbagne indicated that he expects a 100 percent voter turnout, which should translates into a 100 percent YES votes in the referendum. The Municipal Chief executive for East Gonja, Mohammed Tamimu appealed to shop owners and commercial vehicle operators to halt their activities on  27th December for the referendum. who would your most humble servant be?

At a time when power is flaunted more than it is earned, we rise with a different call: #TumiNniSuban—Power without character is nothing. We are done with leaders who wear authority like a costume but lack the soul to serve. Leadership must reflect the people’s dignity, not diminish it. So we ask If elections were held today, who would your most humble servant be?
