Reading Time: 2 mins read

Dr Aya Hayfron disappeared on Monday evening[/caption] The family of Dr Aya Hayfron, who died on Monday when her car was washed away by floodwaters after a downpour in the national capital, Accra, have called on the media to exercise some level of circumspection in reporting about her death. The late Dr. Hayfron’s body was found on Wednesday morning by some local fishermen in the Kpeshie Lagoon, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) confirmed. “The family wish to officially communicate that the body of the late Dr Aya Hayfron has been found. They wish to thank all those who assisted in the search process,” a statement from a representative of the family said on Wednesday evening. Her body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue. “These are trying times for the family and they will wish to appeal to the general public and the media to give them the needed space and time as they grief over the loss of the late Dr Aya Hayfron,” the statement pleaded. The family stressed they wish the general public and the media will treat the memory of Dr Aya Hayfron with the needed respect and desist from circulating pictures and inaccurate reportage about her on social media. “The family is in deep sorrow at this loss and hope this humble plea of the family will be heeded by the media and the general public. “Thank you for your support and keep praying for the family.” Dr. Hayfron, was a medical doctor who recently completed her housemanship at Ridge Hospital. She was survived by the husband Bernard Kofi Agyei Oppong and a 15 months old son. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Organization said six bodies have been retrieved as at Wednesday.
