Pius Hadzide was suspended in April[/caption] President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced the lifting of suspension placed on Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Pius Enam Hadzide in the wake of the visa racketeering in April. The suspension would be lifted on Monday for him to resume work, President Akufo-Addo disclosed on Saturday when he addressed thousands of NPP supporters at the party’s delegates’ conference in Koforidua. According to the president, police investigation into the infamous visa scandal that rocked the country’s participation in the Commonwealth Games in Australia has exonerated the Deputy Sports Minister from any “complicity” in the visa fraud. Pius Enam Hadzide was suspended by President Akufo-Addo together with the acting Director General of the National Sports Authority, Robert Sarfo Mensah after the two were implicated in the visa racketeering for some 60 fake journalists and athletes. President Akufo-Addo also took advantage to briefly touch on other “baseless” allegations leveled against his appointees which were investigated and cleared by appropriate institutions like the police and parliament. He mentioned the ‘cash-for-seat’ against the Ministry of Trade and Industry as well as those against the Upper West Regional Minister, Alhassan Suleman following the mob attack on NADMO offices in Wa: the minister has since been reinstated.
